Regional Educational Technology Network (RETN), which broadcasts on Channel 
16 on Adelphia Cable in the Greater Burlington area, is airing a series of 
specials on the subject of media awareness.

On Thursday, October 20, RETN will air the program "On Orientalism" with 
the late Columbia University professor Edward Said. Said's book 
_Orientalism_ has been profoundly influential in a diverse range of 
disciplines since its publication in 1978. In this engaging and lavishly 
illustrated interview Dr. Said talks about the context within which the 
book was conceived, its main themes, and how its original thesis relates to 
the contemporary understanding of "the Orient" as represented in the mass 
media.

The program airs at 11 AM, 8 PM, and midnight.

Media Awareness specials air on RETN Channel 16 the third Thursday of every 
month at 11AM, 8PM and midnight. These programs are licensed by RETN from
