You certainly can; I monitor Vyatta routers with MRTG and Nagios.
And, of course,
there's Net-SNMP (see http://net-snmp.sourceforge.net/) if you're just
looking for other
open source SNMP tools.

Looks like I'll have to check out JFFNMS :-)
