The hard drive had a previous OS on it. If you don't have anything you want on
the drive then after logging in to the system type:
dd </dev/zero >/dev/hda count=1
This will clear the partition table. Then:
install-system

I am new here and just downloaded the latest VC3 iso. Live CD runs fine but
I can't install it on my hard drive. First, it boots up fine with all the
messages in the screen then it stops with this message:
Starting wan interface: FATAL: Error inserting wanpipe
(/lib/modules/2.6.20/kernel/drivers/net/wan/wanpipe.ko): no such device.
I have to wait for about a minute before it continues on. Then I get another
message that says:
Starting Vyatta Router: (pause for about 5 minutes) FAT: unable to read boot
sector
migrate rl-system firewall rtrmgr.
Then it comes back with the login prompt. I login as root with password
vyatta then type install-system to install to my hard drive. The following
messages from the screen....
I found the following drives on your system:
hda 6488MB
Install the image on [hda]:
This will destroy all data on /dev/hda.
Continue? [Yes/No] [No}: Y
SQUASHFS error: Can't find a SQUASHFS superblock on hda1.
Cannot mount /dev/hda1
Please see install.log for more details.
Exiting..
vyatta:/# cat install.log
Turning off swaps...
cannot mount /dev/had1.
mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/tmp
Exiting...
mount: you must specify the filesystem type
vyatta:/#
The system is an AMD 700Mhz with 512MB memory.
Any help is appreciated.
