This discussion migrated to the IRC, so here's a summary of what was going on for those who don't hang out on #vyos or couldn't follow the discussion. What has been done since the last updates: Kim merged Tom's changes to all submodules required for building on jessie into the mainline, setup jenkins jobs for most of them, and populated the repo for the 'current' distribution on dev.packages.vyos.net/vyos He also made a package with 4.4 kernel and made some fixes in the installer. I keep working on the new fully automated build scripts that live in https://github.com/vyos/vyos-build/ General design idea is to have multiple scripts that do exactly one thing, and take common data from the build config file prepared by the configure script. At the moment, it produces an unbootable image, but I'm working on it. Right now a bootable image can only be produced by hand. If you have any ideas, patches are absolutely welcome. We've also got some ideas regarding the repo layout and package builds: 1. We will not maintain our own copy of the Debian base system repo, but rather pull it straight from the official jessie repos. 2. Packages that are used in VyOS but are not tied to it (eventwatch, hvinfo, ipaddrcheck etc.) will be moved to their own repo. You'll be able to use it in normal Debian setups if you like them. 3. We'll try to build as few Debian packages as possible.
