I see that your w2x is making great progress and is now a commercial
product. I looked into the documentation and I think we would like to
use a desktop license for our work. We are regularly getting word
documents like the one in the attachment. By this I mean the documents
we get are all using the same word template.
My question today: How much would it cost us if you would create a .sh
file with the needed edit.blocks.convert parameters such that we get
epub2 with semantic html tags for the various heading levels, ordered
nested lists and unordered nested lists (e.g. all paragraph formats used
in the attached document)? The EPUB2 should no have any inline styling.
I'm sorry but W2X is currently not designed to do this.
We use the EPUB2 as import format for our authoring and publishing
system.
We understand your problem and we have a solution for it.
First, please let me explain why W2X does not natively generate EPUB2
containing ``semantic XHTML pages''.
Currently, out of the box, W2X generates EPUB2 looking very much like
the input DOCX file. This EPUB2 contains styled, not semantic, XHTML
pages. There is no other way to generate such ``styled'' EPUB2 files as
only W2X can ensure that the DOCX numbered paragraphs are correctly
translated to equivalent XHTML numbered paragraphs, and this, despite
the fact that the DOCX has been split into multiple parts.
Now our solution to your problem.
If you want to create EPUB2 containing semantic XHTML pages, please
first convert the DOCX to DITA using W2X and then use our free XMLmind
DITA Converter to convert the generated DITA files to ``semantic'' EPUB2.
