Separate QA tester is of course good news and I like it! :) 

But in the root (I hope there is such expression in English:) 
it is not enough to solve problem of release stability. This tester will find a 
lot of bugs after new code will be added to the trunk and then we will need to 
fix them on RC stage. It is bad practic to add new features on RC stage.
New code especially when it touches the core or simply has a lot of lines in 
most
cases will bring bugs. It is the bad truth of development. 

From Wikipedia:
"The term release candidate (RC) refers to a version with potential to be a 
final product, ready to release unless fatal bugs  emerge. In this stage of 
product *stabilization*, *all product features have been designed, coded and 
tested through one or more beta cycles with no known showstopper-class bug.*"
