Johannes, While reviewing some other w3af packages I found this patch that's applied to w3af before packaging it for debian [0] which you might be interested in. It's about the auto-update feature, which won't work for regular users if w3af is installed as a system package and will also "break" the whole concept of packaging when run as root, since the w3af version will be updated using the git master branch and the system packager shows a different version from the real-installed one.
Also found different ways of making w3af available by adding sh scripts [1][2][3] [0] https://github.com/andresriancho/w3af-packages/blob/master/debian/trunk/debian/patches/disable-auto-update.patch [1] https://github.com/andresriancho/w3af-packages/blob/master/debian/trunk/debian/w3af.sh [2] https://github.com/andresriancho/w3af-packages/blob/master/debian/trunk/debian/w3af_console.sh [3] https://github.com/andresriancho/w3af-packages/blob/master/debian/trunk/debian/w3af_gui.sh Regards, -- Andrés Riancho Project Leader at w3af - http://w3af.org/ Web Application Attack and Audit Framework Twitter: @w3af GPG: 0x93C344F3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Try New Relic Now & We'll Send You this Cool Shirt New Relic is the only SaaS-based application performance monitoring service that delivers powerful full stack analytics.
