Andres/Chris,

I am having the same problem with vnet0 being 192.168.122.1. I went
into /etc/interfaces and i see the 2 NIC's (eth0 and eth1) set to DHCP.

I also did a sudo ifconfig -a and the only 2 interfaces are vnet0 and
lo0.

I am running fusion so I looked at the settings and I see 2 NIC that
are part of the VMX file. The first nic is set to Bridged and the
other the NAT.

This is an odd issue, Andres when you created the VM did you the
latest VMWare Workstation version? Maybe you need to create a VM in
compatibility mode (version 5.x and lower?) I dont think that this
mode works within my fusion product but maybe that is the problem?
