Yes, changing profile resets the URL and other parameters, as the messages above imply. Changing a profile is like a global reset to the state described in the profile. You must first choose your profile, and than set your options. It's possible to argue the URL should remain unchanged when changing profile, as I remember this bothering me when I first started using w3af also.
