<<Do you see any added fishing opportunities with the BLM land being opened
up
around Rock Lake?

Dan>>

I just read an article in the paper today, Dan. The BLM has purchased the
ranch that sits immediately below Rock Lake. The first several miles of the
creek will now be Catch and Release only. Apparently some nice fish come out
of the lake into this stretch of creek each year but they end up on somebodys
dinner plate and the creek gets fished out pretty quick.

On a related note. North Silver is going to open up as a Fly Fishing only
lake this April. As a point of reference for everyone North Silver sits
between Cheney and Medical Lake. The DFW has given up their quest to rehab the
lake this year so are only going to plant regular hatchery rainbows in it.
They hope to get around the home owners legal red tape next year by getting
the Retenone bags marked with the latest data which indicates that it does
not pose a threat to drinking water. Apparently the bags they have in
inventory say not to use within 200 feet of drinking water and that is how
the home owners association got the treatment stopped. Once they
successfully rehab the lake, they will stock it with Triploid rainbows. In
the meantime the fly clubs have been working with the land owner to smooth
out the bank and make easier access for float tubers. This should be a fun
lake to watch develop over the next 5 years.
