With the Ellensburg weather and Yakima River fishing reports promising, fellow list member Jeff Mix, Jeff's buddy Bob and myself set out on Sunday to experience some spring fishing on the Yak........... Rolling down I-90, glimpses of the Yak provided us with the unfortunate realization that "volatile" is not an understatement. The water was running as brown as any one of us had ever seen it and we deducted that it came compliments of the Teanaway - we never even drove into the canyon. Ultimately, we headed back above the Teanaway and hit a few easy access points - no dice there either. A few March Browns and Skawala Stones were spotted. Water temps were warmer than expected. Another note: while we were walking the gravel Hansen Ponds (?) levee road near Cle Elum (just west of I-90), our fishing partner Bob set his tan fishing vest down to take a break and due to images of dancing rainbows in his head, failed to don it before hitting the water again. After much searching, his vest was not to be found. Just thought I'd throw it out there - last sighting is just off the levee road, down-stream from the ponds. E-mail me directly with info........ Tight ones........bb
