I couldn't agree with you more. The road to hell was paved with good intensions.

Not a good deal, IMHO.  This is a nitemare for the rainbow flyfisherman.  Rainbow fill a void where salmon and steelhead used to roam.  That is why the Methow has become such a good, trout fishery.  Our "social engineers" go back in history and want to return things as they were in the 1800's on these rivers.  There are all kinds of rivers that they could choose to restore these runs without impacting a native trout fishery!  They could have put that Yakima Indian salmon hatchery below Rosa and no one would have complained, or cared.  Many, many of these hatchery Kings and now Silvers residualize, and do not migrate out.  We catch lots of them in slow water holding areas long after they have been released.  It never surprises me, however, when the State of Washington does something detrimental to sport fishing.  This state has supported commercial interests from early on, and continues to do so.

I've heard there is a salmon run being cultivated on the Yakima by a tribal hatchery.  That's the first fish I've heard about being caught.
