Fished Big Twin and to other small lakes in the Valley over the weekend. What a treat, great weather, few fisherman and almost all dry fly fishing using a no. 12,blue,adult damsels. The fish were very selective as most people fishing with buggers and wet lines were not catching many fish if any. In fact the fish were so selective that between the 5 of fishing Sunday we had 4 different adult damsel patterns, all blue, from for 4 different shops and only one of the patterns worked really well that one was sold by a local shop in Seattle. Friday evening Big Twin had a pretty good mayfly hatch around 7:00 PM, but the larger fish seemed to prefer the damsels. Because the lake is so low this year we did a lot of the fishing by walking the banks and sight casting to fish. This works pretty good in early morning and evening too. The other two small lakes were outstanding dry fish fishing too, but most of the fish are smaller. All the lakes are getting pretty warm now. The small lakes well over 60' degrees and Big Twin near 60' degrees. The Methow River is open now but still a little high, but the color is not bad shouldn't be too much longer to start fishing the upper sections that are open. Be sure to check this years regs. for the sections that are open to fish and remember its all Catch & Release. Good Luck, Dan R
