Got to King Lake about 6PM last night to find two other groups ahead
of me, both in canoes, one group using worms on bobbers and the other
spinners. Both had paddled across the lake and were fishing from
shore.

Conditions were ideal, very light breeze, about 68 degrees and a fair
amount of seemingly random insect activity with no obvious hatch that
I could see.

I fished the narrow, south end along both sides up to the inlet
(outlet?) on the west side with dries, both sight casting to rising
fish and trolling. Got a half dozen or so hits, but wasn't able to
hook 'em quickly enough.

By about 7:30PM, fish rising activity had increased dramatically
although hits were still sparse. Finally released a single, feisty
12" cutthroat that fell for my #14 royal coachman parachute about 8PM.

As I was leaving at about 8:45PM, the worm group was just pulling
their canoe out, calling it quits after landing and releasing one
rainbow. They said the spinner group was still fishless.

The catching may have been slow, but it sure was a beautiful evening
for fishing.
