Hello Paul,

Welcome to the list. I too grew up fishing, turning to the fly in my mid-twenties, and can sympathize with your predicament in finding good fishing spots these days. Fortunately, there are many, as you'll find reading the reports from other list subscribers.

As a matter of personal preference, I no longer fish for steelhead or salmon - I'll leave suggestions for those waters to other subscribers.

I concentrate instead on trout in west side lakes and streams. I've had good luck recently at Bridges, Margaret, King and Little Cavanaugh lakes. There have been other recent reports of good fishing at Rattlesnake and Alice lakes.

Streams are probably a bit high yet from snow melt, but I'll be trying all 3 forks of the Snoqualmie, the north fork of the Tolt, and the Taylor, Miller, Beckler and Tye starting around the 4th of July.

Good luck and welcome to the list.

Hello Fellow Fly-Fisherperson,

I just signed up...have lived in the Seattle area all my life...42 years. Fished south Seattle as a child when Twin Lakes(in FW) was fantastic fishing. Now, all that remains now are 3 polluted lakes, which are now water hazards for the golf course, without any fish remaining...pretty sad. As a child, daily I hiked into the woods and fished many awesome creeks that I am pretty sure do not exist any more and if they do, they are not suitable for fish to live in.

As you can imagine, one that starts fishing as a young child as much I I did, truly enjoys fishing still today.

The only thing I regret at this time, is that I wish I had understood the catch-and-release attitude then.

I basically enjoy fishing rivers only now - fly-fish, catch-and-release only. Spread the good word...catch-and-release.

Good to be here!

Know some good river spots this time of year??
