About an hour and 1/2 north of Kamloops is a place called
Little Fort where there are some high elevation lakes that I was at last
week. I fished for two full days and caught 27 rainbow. That is the
only type of trout up there. The size was good 8-22 inches. It has
not been to warm yet so there were mayfly hatches going on and caught alot with
that fly. Leetches work well on a sink tip. Also the green or brown
Tom Thumb on the surface work well. The best time to fish I foung was
8-10pm. The lakes would just boil with fish. There is a fly shop in
Little Fort and it is easy to find since the population is about 200
people. There are maps and plenty of flies. Some of the lakes are
Deer, Nora, Gameras. The folkes in the fly shop can point you in the right
direction is you are so inclined. There are mostly primitive camp sites
you can stay at. Some lakes are right next to the roads, others are up to
a mile hike into.
I am going to Dry Falls this weekend. Has there been any
action there? What type of flies would be good to use.
