Tried the popper routine, but had the darnest time hooking fish!
Ahh...day break.  If your mornings have been bright, day break is the key.
Overcast and you stay a little longer.  I am not saying you can not catch
fish in bright sunlight however, your biggest one of the day is bound to
come early before the fish move to deeper water.
