I've been doing a lot of backpacking and hiking this year and have fished a
ton in the process, usually just a half-hour to an hour here and there but
I've been pleasantly suprised with some of what I've found. Two recent
trips in the last week were very fun.

Lake Dorothy - this is off Hwy 2 up below Skykomish. We did a day hike
there and I fished the outlet of the lake in the small stream there before
it turns into a small waterfall. Caught many very healthy and colorful
brookies in the 7-10" range on Royal Stimulators.

North Fork Quinault River - in Olympic Natl. Park. We did a 3-day trip of
33 miles up the N.Fork to Low Divide. I fished the river at Twelvemile camp
and at Wolf Bend camp over the 3 days. Caught many rainbows ranging from
one 4" fish that attacked my fly to about four really nice 12-13" fish. All
were taken on a Royal something - Wulff, Trude, or Stimulator.
