Mike Santangelo fished Agate Passage and Miller Bay yesterday, from 10 am to
2:30 pm. We picked up a couple of cutthroat, in the 14-17" range, in Agate
Passage, but decided to move on to avoid the profuse amount of weed and the
ever-increasing current.

We prospected a few places outside Miller Bay, and finally found a cutthroat
hot spot, where we anchored up. For about an hour and a half, we almost
expected a strike each cast. Twice we had double hookups. Mike had big
fish the day, an honest 18"+ chunky cutthroat that slammed his
chartreuse/white clouser. When they're on the bite, they're on. I used a
type 3 sink tip line, and Mike used a type 3 full sink line. He favored a
chartreuse/white clouser, and I preferred an olive/white clouser. Both
setups were probably equally effective. One of the highlights of the day
for me was having a 20+ pound bright chinook follow my fly, but turn away
just at the back of the boat. Be still my heart! On my 6 weight, that
would be like having a knife at a gun fight!

All told, we probably caught 2 dozen fish between the two of us, and missed
many more. A great day of fishing AND catching.
