A 12 wght will do, you will be a little undergunned. You didn't mention
your reel type. You will want several hundred yards of 30# backing on a
good quality reel. Not that you could handle a tuna that far out, but it
will effectively increase the arbor of your reel. Get some Ande 60# clear
mono. Use it as shock tippet, you will want about 18" unless you trying for
a record, then you are allowed no more then 12" between the knots. I would
use a 15# class tippet. That is half the strength of your backing. That
can save you from losing your flyline. Make sure you have an excellent
conection between you backing and flyline. Use loop to loop connections.
Tie up some clousers, red and white and pink and white. I use Owners hooks.
Go with size 3/0 or 4/0. If you do troll with the fly line (God forbid),
remember to use a quality bearing swivel some place on your leader. See the
attached tuna photo.

Good Luck,

Mike

I'm leaving wednesday to go out tuna fishing with some folks out of
westport.

I have a 12 wt and plan on using it. Any thoughts on leaders, lines, flies
would be appreciated.

Thanks...
