OK folks, I have a problem someone may be able to help me solve:
First the story:
After returning from smoky Montana last week I decided to enjoy the clear
air and go for a boatride to Sandy Point.
After dropping the crabpot (I had a limit of dungies in one set), I observed
tight pods of coho feeding on crab larvae.
These fish were cruising around the rips, "nosing" just like trout on
tricos.
Over the next hour or so I threw everything in my flyboxes at them, poppers,
candlefish, clousers, deceivers, charlies etc. These flies were retrieved
right in front of, and sometime through, the traveling pods.
All offerings were ignored. A couple local guys who have been playing this
"game" told me it is very rare to get a take from these fish that are
apparently exclusively targeting the crab larvae.
The question: Have any of you folks observed this phenomenon and or solved
this puzzle?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

P.S: Leland: after the fire closures of literally all ground outside the
city limits, someone has been climbing Mt. Jumbo (the one with the "L" on
it) at night and adding letters creating protest messages to issues such as
the police response to the Hells Angels gathering etc.
When I left town, the last message was "Leland".
This is getting spooky, after running into you earlier in the summer!
