The places out there that I would try would be, first of all, right in front of
the cabin (assuming it's on the canal side of the road), if it isn't ask a
neighbor if you could gain access. Another spot would be Shine State Park. It's
located just accross the bridge (Jefferson Co. side) take the very first left.
If you don't mind a short drive, you can go to Indian Island. Just head toward
Port Townsend and follow the signs to Fort Flagler State Park. Once you get to
cross the bridge onto Indian Island, you can either park at the Lions Park just
accross the bridge or drive a little farther to a county day use park.
The only shop on the way that I know of is Northwest Angler in Poulsbo. When you
get into town look them up in the phonebook. They're located downtown and kinda
tricky to find.
I think I would try the standard flies for silvers (baitfish paterns) and SRC
patterns. One good SRC pattern is the Jim Dandy, which was devoloped by the guys
at PT Angler. The recipe is:
Hook: #8 2-3x long
Cone head
Tail: cream/peachy/pale yellow marabou with a few strands of pearl
flashabou NOTE: Any one of theese colors will work.
Body: leaded(optional), flat silver tinsel with orange floss over tinsel
Rib: copper wire
NOTE: Between body and cone head there is a dubbing ball. The cone head
fits over the dubbing ball. The dubbing ball is: Sunset Orange SLF
There is a picture of this fly at their website ptangler.com . Go to the
catalog and scroll down to the bottom of the page.
Hope this helps a little,
Darin
