Well Wes, here's a bad report! I went to the coast yesterday for a nice relaxing day
of fishing. Figured I'd try the Queets, due to a post about the Silvers being in.
Yeah, right! Oh there are a few, and I mean few in some deep "frog water."

The water is extremely low and clear in the Salmon, in some places only two to three
inches for the fish to travel over. I talked to a local and he said that there really
weren't any fish to speak of, that was evidenced by me in the fact that we were the
only ones on the river all day, on a beautiful Friday in Sept. When I was getting
ready to go the Ranger pulled up and said that the Silvers really hadn't shown up yet,
but gave me a run down on the regs. He said I could only keep two adults, (clipped)
and four jacks. Boy, was he wrong :-)

Anyway, I made my way down the Queets to a large pool, there was a hatch of PMD's
going on and I saw a total of three fish rise! They were at best jacks and at least
SRC's. They weren't that big.

I could go on, but it's not worth it. I'll call my friend who guides over there next
time before I trust all postings on this sight :-)

see ya,

Tim <><
