The two methods that I use with the Artic Fox are: (1) Spinning in a dubbing
loop. One draw back to using this method is hiding the butt ends. So I use
the dubbing loop only when I have two or more body colors- dub in one color,
apply the fur, dub in another color, etc... or, using a long hackle effect
(simialiar to a spider pattern). (2) Place the hair over a quarter of the
hook shank, take a couple wraps and distibute the remaining hair evenly
around the shank. This method is much quicker and allows me to use more than
one colors if I desire...
When I get some extra time this weekend, I'll take a couple pictures of the
Atric Fox speys I have devised. I have a picture of a hairwing Max Canyon
tied with Artic Fox and Blue-eared Pheasant at this URL:
http://www.hometown.aol.com/~speyflies.
It has been awhile since I have done anything to that page. Maybe I'll post
the Artic Fox Speys there this weekend.
