I'm off , shortly, to take in another fly tying exhibition at "Jimmy's" in
Idaho Falls. After last weeks rewarding program, I have focused again on a
central theme of the tier I watched. He likes to utilize, to the fullest,
the synthetic materials. Those that restrict their patterns to natural
materials, in his estimation, are severely limiting their fish catching
abilities, in many situations. His use of a light refracting underwing on
attractor dries such as the Stimulator types greatly enhances the fish's
abililty to see them in bright, sunny conditions. Rubber legs are very
popular now, and in my estimation, it is the "twitch" they give and the
signal of a living, struggling critter to the fish, that is the "trigger"
mechanism.
My favorites are 1. Stimulator 2. rabbit muddlers tied "Kiwi"
style,(the rabbit anchored only at the top) 3. haired caddis
4. wooley bugger types. 5. parachutes in different colors 6. Quiggles in
different colors of the natural

BUT....after today, that may change! Jere
