1. Site architecture, design, nav system, and html coding were completed in January and the site was posted online for further development.
2. Site URL has been selected and registered. A host was chosen for the site who could also run the mailing list software and store list archives at a rock-bottom cost.
3. Server-side programming is now being written that will add functionality to the site, allowing members to:
a. Search through an archive of all list postings for the past 4 years by submitter name, subject, or keyword.
b. Submit an ad for flyfishing gear or services.
c. Post a member profile including photo, preferred fishing types, location and contact information.
d. Subscribe or unsubscribe to the list automatically.
e. Post photos to a member's Gallery section.
4. Contributed feature stories and photos have been formatted and added to the Fishing Reports and Fly Patterns sections of the site. (Stories are still more than welcome - please contact me with ideas or suggestions by offline reply to this post.)Without the contributions and guidance of volunteers like Danny McMillan, Leland Miawaki, Wes Neuenschwander, Keith O'Leary, Sean Ransom, and Mike Santangelo, the site would simply not have come together. We've all had to juggle the job of building the site along with work, family and fishing priorities.
5. Editorial guidelines are being created and reviewed for future stories and photos.
Like too many other equally worthwhile projects, this one has ended up taking far longer than we had hoped. We're excited about the new site and hope you'll agree that it will be well worth the wait. Once it's ready, we'll post an announcement and its address to the list.
Thanks again for your patience,
Kent Lufkin
