Avid Angler in North Seattle has limited quantities of legal (permit harvested) polar bear hair in stock. The stuff seems of so-so quality and at $13.00 package isn't cheap, but it may worthwhile to beat the hassle of driving to Vancouver, BC or the risk of dealing via long-distance or email overseas. I picked up a package of the natural (one of the 5 packages remaining) just to have for tying some Miyawaki Beach Poppers. Fairly fine and straight, with a moderate yellow cast to the 1-3/4" - 2-1/4" fibers. This patch was fairly clean, but the other natural patches had quite a bit of guard hairs. In addition to the natural, they also had half a dozen or so colors, died for steelhead/salmon tying. The product is apparently imported and distributed by John Waite of The Serious Fisherman in Spokane. Wes Neuenschwander Seattle, WA USA
