Yes, they most definetly can be caught.  A few years ago, my father in law witnessed a 
fly fisherman hook into a huge chinook from his small boat during the Fall run.  The 
man fought the fish for quite an extended time and a good crowd gathered around.  
Suddenly, the guy broke the fish off.  Everyone moaned and asked him why he did such a 
thing.  He stated he was about ready to wet himself and couldn't think of another 
solution.  My father in law thought the fish looked to be well over 25 pounds.  To 
this day I have yet to meet another fly fisherman who would have done the same thing.  
Men and women alike all agree they would have wet themselves for a chance like that.

One of the popular lures down there is called the Michael Jackson.  Basically a large, 
black flat fish with silver sparkle on the back.  I would think some large leach 
patterns would have a decent chance of eliciting a strike.
