Patrick,

Your timing at Chopaka could be just right. I'll let y'all know when I get
some updates. I think the silver bullets in Chopaka are actually Kamloops
trout. Besides being more silver in color they have a habit of surfacing
like a rocket when caught. It's common to have subsurface line well behind
their rapid upward flight. I'm not an expert on this so if anyone has some
input - feel free to straighten me out.

And yes, Ell Lake has some big fish. I get a bit sad knowing that the
closest lake to me is getting more crowded every year. Unfortunately, since
it's so small there isn't a lot of room. Really though, the fishing hasn't
suffered at all - just more people to share it with. It's the nature of
this sport; understandably. I do make a special effort to return the
friendliness that virtually all fly fishers extend. If it's gonna get
crowded these are good people to share it with. The fine company always
helps make for a pleasant time.

Hope to see you and other list members there this year.

Regards,

Keith

Thanks for the report Keith, I'll be heading up there(Chopaka again) next
thursday for ten days. Hopefully by then with this warm weather will start
the hatches.By the way I e-mailed two people at fish and wildlife regarding
a plant of triploids in chopaka and never even got a response. I did however
catch several fish there on the opener that were absolute silver bullets
unlike many of the spawners in the shallows for what thats worth. Any big
fish at Ell?
