Hi,

I arrived at Amber around 6:30 and the lake was flat come and alive with
dimpling and rising fish. While getting to where I wanted to fish I picked
up a few fish dragging a nondescript wet. After anchoring up I tried
everything I could to pick up fish on or near the surface, nothing.

I tried suspended chrinomids, emerging chirnomids, Griffith gnats, all the
while hearing slurp, slurp all around me. I am pretty sure they were on
emerging chrinomids and they seemed to be of good size. Looking around the
lake at the other anglers I could see and it didn't seem that anyone was
doing much better.

As it started to get dark I began picking up fish on a dark size 14 Usual.
I don't believe I figured anything out by using the Usual. The fish were
just more optornistic as it got dark.

I was wondering if any one had some tips for fishing under these
circumstances. A lake alive with fish at the surface that seem to be taking
midges at or just below the surface.
