I thought I'd better post this now, since I'm headed over to fish Grimes,
Dry Falls and possibly Lenice Lakes this Friday-Sunday and will
undoubtedly forget upon my return. With the Pink's arriving to Hood Canal
in July and Sea-run Cutthroat action heating up, this will probably be my
last trip over to the dryside this summer. In late June, I'm going to be
headed out for a job interview in Maine- I'll also take a few days off to
fish for striped bass!

Although the South Sound Fly Fishers are an organized club ($30 annual
dues), we have an open door policy for people whom would like to attend
our monthly meetings which feature a 30-70 minute presentation on fly
angling or conservation related topics. Last month Bill Herzog put on an
EXCELLENT presentation on fly fishing the Quinault River. He also threw
in a bonus slide show of his fly-in steelhead trip to the Dean River in
B.C.

June Club Meeting

If you want to book a premiere fly fishing destination for lots of big
bonefish (Albula vulpes), come to our June 19th program and learn from
someone whom has experienced it firsthand, Myron Saikewicz. As you know,
Myron is a long-term South Sound Fly Fishers member whom has fished in
some incredible waters. Christmas Island is located in the Republic of
Kiribati ("Kiribas") 1300 miles south of Hawaii and is truly bonefish
heaven. Its flats are home to one of the world's largest bonefish
populations and it is not uncommon for the novice or experienced angler to
hook and land 30+ bonefish in a single day. The "Island" is famous for
its numbers and large sized (6-8 pound) bones that are found daily.
Double-digit fish also roam the flats if you are up to the task! Needless
to say, in a week of fishing you'll see more bonefish than you can imagine
and the possibility of a real trophy certainly exists. Don't miss this
chance to learn more about this exotic "Island" getaway.
