If you are a gamblin angler and want to put all yer flies in one basket, use
a black, olive, or brown, some beaded, others not, ...try a floating line @
first, then a 10 ft sink-tip if you can't get slightly sub-surface action,
on SIZE #14, 2x, or 3x long hooks (9672 Mustads) This fly seldom fails for
me when fish aren't keyed on something such as Chir., or speckle wings on
the surface. Got to believe it is much closer to a damsel, or dragon and
especially works for planted rainbows.
I, so well remember a guide trip that I took where I needed two other boats
on the lake. I had to call a "hardware" guy that had never flyfished
before. I gave him two rods and 1/2 doz. flies of the above mentioned.
Embarrassing all the hoopin & hollerin he was doin.
Texas has chironomids....called humming bir..bugs. Jere
