First post for me here, so bear with me....
Just a quick FYI on St. Croix rods. They have a 'retail store' located at
their factory in Park Falls, Wisconsin. Along with the latest models, they
sell 'factory seconds', rods that didn't meet their quality control, or are
last years models. I personally don't know if they would ship out of state,
but a phone call would find out. Two co-workers were on vacation up there
and stopped by the store. One purchased an Imperial 5-7 wt WITH a St. Croix
reel for under $100. The other purchased a 10 ft 9 wt (that had a spoiled
paint job) for $50. They said there were deals to be had if you don't mind
a bad paint job or last years model.
St. Croix can be reached at (800) 826-7042 and select ext. 119 (that's the
retail store) and talk with Jason or Rob.
Just passing it along....
-Chris
P.S. I personally use a St. Croix Imperial 6-7 wt and I love it.
