Lakes will probably be pretty warm. It is a very popular campsite so there
will be a lot of folks on the lake. Cascade the first lake at Moran has some
large trout including some big brookies. Some good chironimadae hatches but
most of the fish may be deep this time of year? There is great access around
the lake via trails, and a neat little lagoon on the far side that is worh
checking out, including a resident otter family. Boat rentals at Moran state
park. You can hike up to the rest of the lakes, and you definitely want to
try Twin Lakes, a ~3 mile walk in. Again, some big fish, and the lake has an
unusually large breed of salamanders (water dogs), kind of brown with orange
striping. Are there some big pigs feeding on them? Let us know how you do.

Subject: Lakes in Moran State Park

I'm going camping later this week on Orcas at Moran State Park. Anyone know
what swims in Cascade and Mountain Lakes there? Is it worth bringing my
float tube and some gear?

Thanks,
Tim
