Subject: Ala Spit

Ala Spit is on the east side of Whidbey Island, directly opposite Hope
Island.  To get there cross the Deception Pass bridge bridge and drive south
on Highway 20 for 2 1/2 or 3 miles and turn left on Troxell Road.  Stay on
Troxell Road until it comes down to the water.  A road turns off to the left
where there is an inconspicuous carved wooden sign saying Ala Spit. Follow
this road to a parking area at the base of the spit.  The parking area and
spit are within a county park.  The spit is a half-mile long and the best
fishing seems to be in the hundred or so yards from its tip southward.
