I was at Lincoln park both last night and the night before. The contrast
between the two nights was stark. There were fish busting out everywhere
chasing big schools of small herring on Tuesday. I caught a bunch, up to
about 18".
Last night I saw one small school of bait, and only a handful of fish on
the top. Caught two very small ones and had half a dozen others chase the
fly and nip at its tail. As usual a guy with a dog and a buzz bomb turned
up, caught a five pounder and left. I had the feeling that the fish were
there, just a little too far offshore for my limited casting ability.
