I've decided to take a couple of weeks off and spend at least one of them
fishing.
This spring I spent a day floating the Missouri 3 hours outside of Missoula
and had an amazing day.
I'm thinking of going back to either the Missoula area or the
Whitefish/Glacier area. OK, maybe both. Either way, I'd appreciate
thoughts on
1) good guides in the area. I used Grizzly Hackle, out of Missoula, this
spring and was pretty happy. I have no experience in the Whitefish area
2) non-guide waters. I'm thinking of the Madison, maybe Rock Creek.
3) flies. Getting a little late to tie up specific patterns, but I could
find the time late at night... I've got boxes full princes, humpies,
adams.
4) fire situation. From the news and web sites, Glacier is looking pretty
tenuous. Anyone got info on the Missoula area?
5) Alternate places. I love Montanna, but I'm just as happy to try Idaho.
Fact is, I'm gonna be on vacation - a not very usual situation. I guess I
could go anywhere within a day or so's driving distance of Seattle
Lots of questions. Thanks in advance for the replies
In case you are wondering, I've been luiking on the list under a couple of
email names (AOL, MSN, Earthlink) for several years. I love to steelhead
fish, and occasionally try out the local lakes in my float tube. This past
spring was my first time in a drift boat - and I became instantly addicted
to sight fishing with dries. I'm a relatively novice to intermediate fly
fisher. And this is a great newsgroup with great information.
