I've been using the Okuma Integrity reels for several months now and I
really do like them. I agree with all of your comments about the
improvements, especially the drag. One of my only complaints about the
Sierra line is that the degree of rotation of the drag knob is very small
for the range of drag that I like (just enough to prevent backlash.)
Therefore, the drag on these frequently needs adjusting - a minor nuisance.
The star drag on the Integrity reels more than takes care of this problem.
Like the Sierra line they aren't anodized so the finish tends to scratch
more easily than one that is anodized. Another thing that people should
realize is that being a large arbor reel and more heavy duty they are
noticeably heavier than the same line weight Sierra reel. I think it's a
hard reel to beat in this price range (or double this price) although many
places will be selling at above the $44.00 price level as that is close to
most small dealer's wholesale price.

I know that many of us on the list are fans of the Okuma Sierra fly reels.
At $29 they are hard to beat quality wise. I just got a chance to see the
new Okuma Integrity large arbor reels and they are very impressive at just
$44.00
The drag is much more efficient and consistent in pressure through the dial
range. Gone are the small dial and now it is a star wheel with prongs long
enough to reach with just a finger for minor adjustements. A very nice
feature.
The finish also looks like it has been improved. That was my only gripe
with
the Sierra reels. Mine look like they went through a war.
The drag uses the familiar uni-directional bearing but it looks like they
have upgraded the other gear mechanims. I didn't get a chance to look at
this closely but the drag is very smooth and tightens down strong enough to
stop the biggest fish.
