Welcome to the group. Very sorry to hear you were ripped off. I hope that is an exception. I would be interested in hearing what other members have experienced. For my part, I have fished all over the West for 20+ years, mostly for trout, occasionally for salmon and steelhead, and I can only remember one time I had my vehicle broken into. That was on the Deschutes River in Oregon, in the early 1980s. This was near the Warm Springs area. I had parked there for three days while on a float trip. Fortunately, I was too impoverished in those days to have much of value; all they got were my basketball shoes.

Hi,
My name is Mike Margolies and I am new to the group. I have enjoyed reading emails for the last few weeks. While I am not new to fly fishing, I did take a 20 year break. Just didn't like fishing much in SoCal. Anyway, I have refallen in love with fly fishing and it really helps to have a forum like this to reacquaint myself. That being the case I went out on the Skykomish last Saturday. I haven't fished for salmon since my student days at Humboldt State. I didn't catch any, but had a great time...until I went back to my SUV and discovered that someone had broken my window, stolen my extra fly rod, my sons spinning gear and a camera tripod. I was in a fishing access area with plenty of other cars. I hope that this was the exception to the rule, rather than the norm. I suppose the lesson is I can't bring extra gear, but I am very disappointed. I am only letting everyone else know so they will be careful. ! ;This was the first time I had ever heard of something like this happening.
I look forward to more info on what's going on. I hope that my next report is about the silvers I caught next weekend.
Mike
