Floated the Yakima with two clients Friday. Put in at Swauk Creek, took out at River Raft Rentals. The river is incredibly low. Make sure you watch your time if floating. The section we floated would normally be a short float, it took over 6 hours and we had to row the last hour to get in before it got dark. Lots of silvers in the upper river. Fishing was fair, the trout seemed to be only in the riffles. Prince and bh soft hackle nymphs on the quarter and downstream swing were pretty consistent, a few bwo came off in the afternoon, and we hit one huge cutbow on a parachute bwo. A very few Oct caddis right after sundown. I know the silver fishing is great, but a float down the Yakima is hard to beat for pure aesthetic delight.
Also for your information, Karen at River Raft Rentals is going to start renting rafts with flyfishing frames next year. She also of course has a shuttle service, and is a very friendly and helpful person.
