No we did not target the silvers, although I did bring along some comet > patterns and it did cross my mind. Given that they were hatchery originated > fish, I wouldn't have had any compunction against exercising a few, and they weren't in too bad a shape, and most were in the ~5-8 lb range.
Exercise them indeed! I for one, am all for targeting a few and either taking them home to the smoker or chucking them up in the weeds! Especially the big females full of eggs. And the smolts- I don't think we should return them to the water either. Since the state and the indians are all for taking away the only decent trout stream in the whole damn state for an artificial salmon run, (Yes, I know it was once a native salmon run...) then why shouldn't we?
