Hey Tim,
We're going to have to start calling you "Mr.
Yakima" as I think you fish it more than the guides do! I've been fishing here
on the lake quite a bit. The hatches are tapering off here too, but I'm having
fun each time I go out. Yesterday, I got 6 fish to the net with the biggest
running about 14". I've been using big, bushy Griffith Gnats lately as the fish
are getting wise to my Adams. I think I've caught some fish a couple of times
now. I'm thinking of heading out to the Sno today to steelhead before the rain
fucks it up again.

Subject: Another day in the Canyon
I keep thinking that "today is going to be my last chance" and
today may very well have been. I looked at the weather and found that
today was suppossed to be partly cloudy and in the mid-50's in Ellensburg
with rain and cooler temps the rest of the week so I went for it.
Silly me to believe the weather man, I think it got up to the mid-40's over
there today though the wind wasn't too bad and once noon hit my hands
thawed out somewhat.
I fished at Mile 15 and the afternoon BWO hatch
was much more sporadic and light than it had been in the previous weeks
there. Nymphing before-hand yielded nothing and I was just
getting ready to pack up and move to a new location when a fish rose.
Over the next 1.5 hours I managed to get most of the fish that were rising
up to look at my #20 BWO Comparadun and managed to land 4 fish in the
11-14" range, missed several other strikes, and had a few out and out
refusals. By 2:30 the rises had shut down in this
area completely and so I headed off the water.
As I was leaving I
saw lots of fish rising in the flat above Umtanum and decided that since
some guy was parked there that I wouldn't try to squeeze in, besides I was
still cold and needed some hot coffee to get home
with.
