You know, you're right. My son got his first fly rod when he was 2 months (no typo) old. It's a nice 5' cane rod with his name laser engraved in the reel seat (which means that I can't claim it as mine :). BTW, I'm a lurker too, but I do post when I have info to give. I thought that's what posting was all about and that some of you just had a lot of info to give. Darin
