Unfortunately it still happens. I've fished the Ford too many times in the
last year (mostly last Winter). I had exactly the same thing happen to me
just one time - a guy literally cast over my line. More commonly though I
see people encroach from both sides until there is scarcely room for a short
lob cast.

I don't mess around about it. I say something. e.g., "Um, excuse me, but
I'm FISHING HERE... I just need room for a short drift... there's fish down
there too (pointing up or downstream)" I think a lot of brand-new
flyfishers show up at the Ford and just need a lesson in manners.

The last time I was at Rocky Ford was probably six or so years ago, in late
Spring, I believe, when other waters were out of shape from run-off. My
buddy and I found a spot and were working a few (very) large fish. Another
angler walked up and pretty much cast his line right over my partner's. We
took offense; he took offense that we took offense and suggested that his
close-quarter actions were the norm at RF. We split shortly after and never
went back. I'm curious, was our encounter the RF exception or the rule?
