Bill,

Both of my kids started out fishing with me at a young age. I find that fishing out
of rowboat is the easiest way to go. A young child can sit on the bottom of the boat
between your legs while you row. This is also the easiest way to help them reel in
the fish.

I would also suggest a trip to Okanogan County for some great fishing around the April
opener. Fish Lake, and both Conconully Lakes can offer great fly fishing but with the
benifit of a stocked lake. Fish is probably the best bet. My family lives on the
lower Conconully Lake and my kids always have a blast just fishing out of the boat
with me in front of the house.

I know the rivers on the wet side are a bit sparse for resident trout but a family
camping trip to the St. Joe in Idaho might get them hooked. I took my kids over there
this Summer and we had a hole to ourself all day long. The kids stood on the bank and
took turns learning to cast with my assistance. Once they got the fish on, I let them
play the fish most of the way in. Again, they loved it.
