Hello:

This is my only second season to fly fish in Northwest, last year on my 5th trip to Skykomish I got my first steelhead ,big bright siver 29 inch long, boy what a great way to get hooked on fishing for steelhead! that fish I hooked in 6 foot of water on red marabou streamer, I will never forget the fight ! fish clear the water 3 times and I was near my end of the backing in no time. I knew than that  steelheading will be my new obsession.

After checking water reports last night I drove to the Skykomish river to fish couple diferent spots.
Weather was not getting any better, it was steady rain well last 4 weeks I fished all in the rain any way.

I fished streatch near town of Gold Bar nice long slow pool, I started getting some hits on fly I tied last night Purple Spey fly , I got 2 Dolly's 14"  two weeks ago same spot I hooked nice steelhead 22" and 20" Dolly Varden , I was thinking great fish are starting to like my new fly.

I put on new fly chartuse color marabou streamer and cast across in to slow moving water. I saw silver belly of the fish rolling near where I cast the fly.

On the second cast I felt light tug on the end of my line, I thought it's another Dolly Varden , but in seconds I was in to somthing big! now I knew I hooked  Salmon or Steelhead , it was a steelhead very silver full of power and speed, sa soon as he felt my line he took down stream , I was worry becouse I never wear gloves and did not want to mess thinks up palming the reel.

He clear the water twice and I started to reel him in , for the secont I thought I lost him me line felt light , and than he took of again striping my line, after several runs I end up beach him nice and took a picture very healty "metalhead" fish was 28" long ( I made marks with nail polish on my rod every 2" )

This is my 4th Steelhead in 3 months , I love the sport , I started tying my own steelhead fly.

I am glad I join Wa. Flyfishers Group I gain lot of great information on fly fishing in this state.

Also thanks to Jimmie Girganoff for giving me lots of tips on , fly lines , flies etc...

Thank you for your time, and best wishes,

Les Korcala

Subject: The Steelhead Bus

Fellow flyfishers,

As I stated previously, the WFFC is underwriting 75% of the cost of a
bus to take people down to Vancouver for the WDFW Wild Steelhead
Release Rules Change Hearings, December 8, 2001.

The cost is $10 plus an optional tip to the bus driver of $2-3.

Here is the final schedule:

The bus will depart Northgate Park & Ride at 8:15 am
The bus will depart Federal Way Park & Ride at 8:45am
The bus will arrive in Vancouver for the hearings (in time for lunch)
at 11:30 am
The bus will depart Vancouver at approximately 4:00pm  (after hearings)
The bus will stop at the Fish Tale Brewery in Olympia for refreshments
The bus will return to Federal Way at ~8:00pm
The bus will return to Northgate at ~8:30pm

To reserve a seat, please call Jay Deeds at (360) 830-4885 or email
him at: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

It is critical that we have a strong showing at this hearing. We need
to support the Commission members who are voting to make wild
steelhead catch and release mandatory throughout the state.

This is our best (and maybe last) opportunity to turn into action
something we've been talking about for years.

Leland.
