Hey - welcome to the group (I'm pretty new too) and to the state (not new in
WA however ;-). The Beaverhead is about my favorite river that I've ever
fished, you'll not find that quality of fishing here in Washington - there's
an amazing population of nice browns in that river.

The one spot that I've fished down south there for trout is Merrill Lake, a
beautiful fly-fishing only lake with rainbows and browns situated to the
south of Mt. St. Helens. The surrounding forest is still pristine as it was
spared the blast of 1980. The "big deal" with this lake is the Hexagenia
Limbata hatches in July and August - brings even the big browns to the
surface to smack the 1 - 2" yellow mayflies. It is also productive
throughout its season - you should grab a copy of "Flyfishers Guide to
Washington" by Greg Thomas.

I believe there is excellent steelhead and salmon fishing down in your area,
the Kalama R. for example - but I haven't gotten into the big rigs yet since
I prefer small streams, small flies and lightweight rods.

Hey, what's your name, by the way?

Good luck and tight lines.
