Yesterday, I fished the riffles downstream from the gun club. It was a
beautiful afternoon (sunny, air temps in the mid 60s, water temp 57 and
light breeze). Arriving just before 1:00, I worked a large back eddy and
cast to the foam line with a #18 BH Pheasant Tail. I was rewarded over the
next 15 mins to 3 rainbows averaging 10". Moving upstream to a smaller eddy
next to main channel in the riffle I switched to some larger nymph patterns
and was skunked . Went small again with a # 18 BH Prince and got a few
strikes.

Around 2:00 the BWO hatch was on. The hatch wasn't as heavy as it was last
week but there were a lot of fish rising in the slack water. Ignoring the
surface activity, I continued to fish the small Prince and got a nice hook
up which ended with a LDR. Unable to resist the splashy rises any longer I
switched flies for a little dry action, however, was unable to entice any
takers. Left at 2:30 (had to get home). Never really had a chance to work
the hatch. Overall, not a bad day - good start...slow finish.
