That's a great story Gary!
We took out in the dark one night too, but we had already floated that
section and had a pretty good idea where we were. You don't want to miss
that last take out below town! We hiked down to the falls one day and I
don't think you would survive that in a boat......maybe in a barrel.
The most exciting thing that we encountered was a black bear that decided
to take a swim in front of the boat while I was anchored up. I pulled
anchor to get closer for a photo and my wife is yelling at me to row to
the other side of the river. I ended up getting a photo of his ass as he
crashed up through the brush running away from us. We saw several bear on
the river that trip.
I agree that Dave seems like a great guy who cares about the resources in
the area. The cabin we stayed in was very nice. We haven't done much
camping the last couple of years but one thing I've learned is, if you
take the wife camping and fishing for a week make sure the last couple of
days are spent in a cabin or hotel with all the comforts.
