I've been invited (and accepted) to join a party of a dozen or so
organized by my wife's cousin for an expedition to Coffman Cove, on
the northeast corner of Prince of Wales Island, Alaska.

He's reserved the Coffman Cove Bunkhouse for the week of July 20-27.
Earlier parties have had tremendous success targeting silvers in the
salt in an area known as Whale Inlet (Bay?), fishing in groups of two
and three from 16-18 foot Lund boats. Last trip, most of the fish
were taken within a couple hundred yards of shore as the fish mass up
before heading into freshwater.

However, I'll be the lone flyfisher in a group of gear-slingers.
While I'll probably bring a gear setup myself, I prefer to fish flies
and will bring my 8wt setup for the salt. I'll also bring a 5wt setup
for day trips targeting cutts and Dollies in some nearby lakes and
streams.

Since this will be my first time flyfishing for salmon in salt, I'd
sure appreciate advice and suggestions on line and leader selection,
stripping techniques and fly patterns.

Thanks in advance,

Kent Lufkin
